The Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) of 1988 gave Native American governments the right to establish and run gaming facilities on Indian land anywhere within the United States. The people of Oklahoma passed a constituional ammendment in November 2004 giving recognition to the existing and future gaming facilites owned and operated by the Oklahoma Indian Nations, Tribes, Bands and Towns. Nearly all of the Indian groups within Oklahoma were native to some other area of the United States before removal to Oklahoma. Check your genealogy; you might be eligible for membership.
