Directory Listing - Native American (Indian) Group in OklahomaThe Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) of 1988 gave Native American governments the right to establish and run gaming facilities on Indian land anywhere within the United States. The people of Oklahoma passed a constituional ammendment in November 2004 giving recognition to the existing and future gaming facilites owned and operated by the Oklahoma Indian Nations, Tribes, Bands and Towns. Nearly all of the Indian groups within Oklahoma were native to some other area of the United States before removal to Oklahoma. Check your genealogy; you might be eligible for membership. The federally recognized Indian groups listed here and on the other pages of this website have their own governments, constitutions and laws. They act as seperate sovereign nations within the United States. Tribes use gaming revenue to fund projects that help their people, as mandated by the IGRA of 1988.
